Learn everything about sync licensing from Production (library) music, writing and scoring bespoke music via Music Supervisors, working with Trailer Houses and writing for video games. From understanding the sync landscape, to crafting your music for maximum placements, this course will cover everything you need to know to launch or further your career in sync licensing.

Course Module Classes:

Week 1: An Introduction to Production Music

During this first module you'll get an in-depth overview of sync licensing. Then you'll learn about the exciting world of Production Music - including an analysis of how you can launch your Production Music careers, learning about writing to briefs, how much you could earn and how to get the work from the labels.

Week 4: Optimising your music for maximum placements

To be successful in sync you will need to tailor your writing, production and mixing skills for use in TV, film and video games. You'll explore optimised song structures, the importance of lyrical themes, writing to picture, creating mutiple track edits and ensuring you meet the high production standards required

Week 2: Writing/producing for movie trailers and video games

In this module you'll explore how you can get bespoke writing work for movie trailers and video games. We'll also look at the role of music supervisors, working with trailer houses, writing for video games and how to get those coveted bespoke commissions.

Week 3: Writing film scores, TV themes shows and for adverts

If you want to write the score for a blockbuster movie, or an indie film, or write the theme and music for TV shows, we'll explore all about it this module. We'll also look at the lucrative world of writing music for adverts

Each student will also receive a range of desktop guides and guidance booklets after each module, designed to help you consolidate your learning on the course. This will include publisher directories, guidance on writing, producing and mixing and sample briefs to practice to.
